Reiki Healing

Rei - ki means "universal life - energy".

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki is a form of healing and spiritual awakening, received and brought back into practice in Japan in the late 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui. It is passed on from one person to other via initiations (or attunements), teachings and a form of practice.

Dr Chujiro Hayashi, initiated and named by Dr Usui as his successor, opened up clinics and developed the teaching of Reiki. In turn he initiated Mrs Hawayo Takata, who brought Reiki to the knowledge of the West via her home in Hawaii.

Reiki helps us to regain harmony and wholeness. As a practitioner, I act as a channel for the Rei-ki to flow in, around and through the client, amplifying the life force energy of the individual, returning the person towards their natural state of balance and well-being.

Reiki helps in maintaining personal health, revitalising work and personal relationships, boosting creativity and living in spiritual fulfillment. It is a gateway to our inner knowledge, bringing awareness of how we can aid our own healing.

Reiki is a holistic practice and works on the whole person: the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Reiki will always address the cause of an issue.

It can be a powerful aid in personal development.

As blocks are removed and toxins released, some discomfort can be experienced during a treatment; however most people find treatments to be deeply relaxing. Some people say a Reiki treatment is the equivalent to 4 hours deep sleep.

Reiki may be used in conjunction with both traditional medecine and other complementary therapies, to enhance the treatment or improve its effectiveness.

If you decide to learn to practise Reiki yourself, you will find it an invaluable life-long friend.

     Treatments

During a treatment, the client remains fully clothed. They lie down or sit in a chair, whichever is more comfortable. Starting at the head, I place my hands in a series of positions covering the client's body. Each hand position is held for several minutes. Some pressure and light massage may be applied. The whole person is treated, though certain areas may receive special attention as the energy directs.

Each person experiences a Reiki treatment differently, depending on their individual needs at the time. Often people feel a deep sense of relaxation and peace during a treatment. Some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience colours, whilst others can have a physical or emotional reaction, indicating the body's healing processes are working and balance is being restored to the system.

Reiki works on all conditions.

Reiki helps to boost the immune system, release toxins from the body, encourage good circulation and digestion, calm the mind and emotions, and restore harmony and balance to the whole being.

Reiki works very well on stress-related conditions. It can help ease muscle-tension, fatigue and pain, and boost energy levels.

Emotional problems such as anger, grief, anxiety, depression and fear respond very well to Reiki, as do compulsive and addictive behaviour patterns. Because of this, Reiki may be very helpful in cases of drug or alcohol dependency.

Reiki supports the body's natural healing processes and so helps speed up recovery from an accident, operation or traumatic experience.

Acute pain can be relieved very quickly by Reiki. Chronic, more deep-seated conditions may also respond well, but tend to need more treatments to get to the root of the problem.

Sometimes there may not be enough time to reverse the progress of the disease. in such cases, however, Reiki can help to enhance the quality of the time left, and bring peace and acceptance at the end of a person's life.

Reiki is wonderful for pregnant women. It can ease physical and emotional tension and help the mother feel more connected and in touch with her baby. Unborn babies seem to love Reiki too, and will even follow the practitioner's hands around as the mother is being treated! After birth, Reiki can help babies sleep better, as well as assist with conditions such as colic. For the mother, Reiki is also extremely relaxing and can help with tiredness and post-partum depression.

Children usually love Reiki and often respond very quickly to it as they haven't held problems for long lengths of time. Reiki can be a great complement to children undertaking other forms of therapy or counselling. Treatments tend to be shorter than for an adult.

The energy of Reiki is cumulative, and therefore a series of treatments may be of particular value, especially where problems have been around for a while.

Distance is no barrier, as distant Reiki treatments are equally effective. Please see my Consultations page for more information.

Animals respond just as well to Reiki as people; and Reiki treatments may be claimed on certain pet health insurance schemes!

      Appointments

I currently offer treatments at various venues in Bristol including The Relaxation Centre, and at my private practice in Clifton. Home visits may be arranged; as well as appointments in London.

Distant Reiki Healing may also be booked.

I also offer 4-day treatments (where the client receives a treatment every day over four consecutive days), and 10-day treatments, both recommended for chronic or deeper issues, or simply when you feel you want something to shift.
